Eyes Closed
Eyes Closed
As I reflect on Jim Morrison’s and the Doors legacy decades after standing at the edge of the stage during their infamous 1969 Dinner Key Auditorium I realize how the event encapsulated the complexity of Morrison’s talent. His drunken manic performance that night ranged from pensive to confrontational.
This photograph captures Morrison’s introspection and reflects his poetic sensitivities. It is a momentary glimpse of his inherent shyness.
Morrison’s image of the bad boy, provocateur is offset in this quiet, calm, very serene instant.
To me, it visualizes the inner peacefulness he desperately pursued and that which alluded him until his death.
